Dollhouse Miniature Macarons in Cellophane Bag

I last made this many years ago. Back then, I still didn't know how to make the cellophane bags myself, so when I couldn't find the right ones in the same size, I stopped making them. I did try making them for a while on my own, but it was successful and I shelved the idea away. Recently, I began to revisit the idea and I discovered how to make them myself now. I'm overjoyed!

I love how simple it looks, but with the right colors, it just looks adorable to bits.

I also love placing a few of my favorite pink things and taking a few photos of them altogether.

In other news, I'm planning a rather big trip to the other side of the world, to celebrate my birthday and visiting friends. We'll see how it goes. :)

Off to complete a custom order now. :) Have a great week everyone!

New Experiment with Swiss Roll

How has everyone's week been? Mine has been fruitful. :) I had been experimenting some new miniature swiss roll cakes or roll cakes, as some may call it. I was trying to experiment making a more complex version of that. I happened to have some fresh air dry clay that I left from the last project. Since I didn't wanted to waste them, I just used the blue clay for the experimentation.

And here was my result!

What made me so happy was that the color turned out quite nicely! The blue matches with the inner fillings of the roll cake. I was so excited with this, because I see many possibilities now that the experimentation turn out well.

And here's the photo with my finger on it.

I might turn it into a real product if I pull this experiment off successfully.

And in other news, I have released a new dollhouse miniature oreo cookie biscuit mold in my shop.

You make dollhouse miniature scale oreo cookies from this mold. The cookies measure approximately 0.85cm wide.

Have a great week all!

New Roses and Paper

Made some new roses after taking a little break from making flowers. I'm thinking of making a bouquet with a really soft beige, lilac theme. Let's see how that goes. :) Pretty excited!

Just keeping everything very light and soft here. I love these! In fact, I couldn't wait but release one of them in a latest piece that I just released today.

Last week, I also got hold of some pretty white translucent wax papers. They were so pretty and I am thinking of using them for wrapping up future bouquets. It would give a really different feel from the newspaper print paper, I bet! Soft, white, pristine. :)

I know the photo doesn't show the prints well, but....I assure you they are pretty. I can visualize bouquets in them already. :)

New Blue Paris Flask Pot

So, I took a better photo of the blue paris flask pot which was sold shortly after I've listed it. ((Thank you!!! You know who you are!!) I'm glad I'm able to take a nicer shot of my bouquet of flowers in this blue paris flask pot.

I'm sure to make another blue flask pot - no special reason. I just love the color!! :)

I'm excited for my new ribbons to arrive. I needed more colors to work with, and made the expensive purchase. The ribbons were hard to source for, but worth every penny in my opinion.

Custom Macaron Bracelet

I just finished a custom macaron bracelet requested by a customer of mine. She wanted a slightly longer bracelet and with some custom colored macarons on it. I was happy to work on this for her. She requested for lots of pink so that's why this particular one has many pinks! :)

Earlier this week, another customer sent me a short sweet message. It touches my heart and it simply said "Pei Li, your work make our world better and kinder . Thank you so much for this!"

Even though it was short, but it was heartfelt and I felt she gets me. I love doing what I do - using colors, and mostly flowers to bring some serenity and calmness to this sometimes chaotic world. I love it when I get feedback that they feel peaceful and happy when they see my work upclose. That makes my day. :)

Earlier this week, I completed a blue antique miniature flask pot. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how my blue and white flower bouquet will fit into this :) And so I had to take a shot right away! I love it when I see two items fit perfectly together!

I will take better photos when I get a chance! ^^

What I learnt from the Olympics

Hi there! I'm still around! Everyone seems to be busy playing Pokemon Go here, but I have no desire to start this game. Am I the odd one around here? On the other hand, I chose to indulge in watching the Summer Olympics, which was my favorite thing to do since I was a kid. It only happens once every 4 years, and so when it arrives every time, I get excited. My favorite sports events to watch is swimming, volleyball, some basketball. When I see an athlete standing on the podium everytime, I am reminded that behind that success is a lot of hard work, sacrifices and intense focus to get to where they are.

One particular athlete in the swimming scene in this Rio Games stood out to me. Katie Ledecky - she is such a powerhouse. A swimmer who is able to do both shorter and longer distances and be able to dominate in both is truly unheard of. Because she was so phenomenal in her races, I had to google about her and read about why she was so successful.

Her and most athletes work ethics can be applied in our own daily lives if we wanted to be the best in what we do.

- Everyone has heard about the 10,000 hours principle but no one follows it ... except incredibly successful people. To be good at something, we need to consistently practise that skill. There are no shortcuts to success. And in some cases when we hear about "overnight" success stories, we would realize that the person has actually put in tremendous amount of time and effort working on that thing if we dug further. This definitely can be applied to anything that we want to pursue or achieve. Start the groundwork now. Everyday.

- Not following the crowd. Think differently.
This is a particularly interesting concept. Most people tend to follow the crowd, as the tried and tested path seems safe and if it has proven to be successful, why change it? But following the crowd is also a recipe for mediocrity. In Katie's case, she was a distance swimmer, but thinks like a sprinter. She also trains at a high stroke rate, everyday, twice a day. Her practice is way different than the rest of other distance swimmers.

I've learnt a couple of things while watching this olympics. I'm inspired by the great work ethics that the athletes maintained over the years to get to where they are today. Those are the things that I certainly can apply in what I do. Did you learn anything while watching the games?

More great miniature artwork to come! :)

Dollhouse Miniature Bouquet- Pink Whispers

Hello! It's been a few weeks, and July has flown by! Thank you for all the support in July. :) I was busy fulfilling orders. Feeling really grateful. :)

I am nursing a cold these couple of days. Hence, I'm taking it a little slower and trying to get better here. My throat is still feeling a little uncomfortable and today, I have been taking lots of star fruit! I remembered how star fruit juice (freshly squeezed) gave instant relief to my sore, dry throat when I was younger. I bought some star fruit and made some juice! It was very soothing and I felt better. Mom also bought some on her way home and I had some more of that in the evening. Shall have more star fruit tomorrow.

Finished a new bouquet of flowers recently. This bouquet is named Pink Whispers. Soft, light and dreamy. This will be on its way to its new owner :)

Did you know that the antique flask pot was also handmade by me?

I'm proud that I could pull this off! It was a slightly more complicated design, due to its shape and the mouth. The original metal pot was no longer in production. I searched high and low for that, but didn't see anything that came close to that. I love it's slightly wider bottom, which gives a really cute look.

So I knew I had to make it my own if I wanted to include it in future miniature pieces. :) I was really pleased I could replicate this.

I'm dreaming of making these cute antique flask pots in a variety of colours ^^

What colors would you like to see it in?

Have a wonderful week everyone!
