Japanese Silicone Cream – What resellers and manufacturers don’t tell you about

This blog article is about the packaging problem with a particular brand of Japanese Silicone Cream.

Let me start off by saying the cream itself is a fine product. However, from my experience, the packaging seems to cause the cream to dry out if you do not transfer it into better air tight containers.

This really baffles me. Apply it in the context of a skin care or food product. When you buy a skin care product, food sauce, jam or peanut butter off the shelf, you believe and trust that the product would be best kept in the same container that you bought it in. Nobody thinks about transferring the product into another container for storage. But this is what actually happens with the Japanese Silicone Cream. When it dries out, you can't use it anymore.

In another occasion, I noticed that even a brand new cream with the lid still sealed had the same issue. The silicone cream in the jar with an unbroken seal has dried out.

In my opinion, there could possibly be something wrong with the design of the lid. I hope the manufacturer is aware of it and improves on the quality of the container.

For those of you who are using this product and do face the same issue, I’d love to hear from you how you store this. Also for some who decides to purchase this cream, it may be best to have back up empty tight lit containers to store it.

Hope that helps!

Bits and pieces of dried Japanese silicone cream that I tear out. Feels elastic and slightly rubbery.

  3. Pei Li I unfortunately have a lot to say about the silicone cream product now that you showed me what it looks like when it is dried :'( I will write my thoughts on my blog because I think it is too long for a comment. Thank you for showing me the picture though. It does confirm a lot of things for me.

  7. Hi Jacqueline,

The air dry clays should be OK if you have kept them in air tight containers. But do let me know how it goes!! I'll try to help!

  8. Dearest sweet pei li, thanks so much! I am just so afraid to open them bcoz im worry i wouldn't know how to really make good use of them.

I had one opened pack and only managed to use a small potion it and that time i didn't know how to store the opened pack till i read and learn about it from you. Lucky i still have another unopened pack. Is it necessary also to store the unopened pack in air tight containers?

Have a lovely merry happy night and love to you!

  9. Dear Jacqueline,

I actually typed a response earlier, but after reading it over again, I think I've not explained well enough so I deleted the earlier response and am adding more to it!
    ______

It's not necessary to store the unopened packet of clay in air tight containers. But I'm not sure how long ago you have bought and kept that packet of clay for, so if you have an excess container to spare, I think you might want to keep it in there. And I was also thinking you might not be using the clay that soon and as regularly as me, so yes in your case, an air tight container would be good! For someone who uses the clay regularly, I would say it's not necessary.

Overtime the clay would still dry out because previously, I have also bought some "older" batch of clay (which means they have been sitting in the store for a while) and I didn't know back then how to gauge if the packet of clay is fresh or not...when I opened the packet, the clay is not as soft as a fresh new packet, so it goes to prove even unopened packet of air dry clay can be dried out.

Sorry for my long winded answer! Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Pei Li
