1/6 Scale Blythe Cake Shelf

I've finally completed this 1/6 Scale Blythe Cake Shelf, which is a customized item for my sweet customer. This has taken me the longest time to make. For the longest time, I felt like I wasn't making any progress with it. Not that I wasn't, it was just that I had very little time to put into it per sitting, and it did require painting works to be completed before I assemble some of the wood work. I figured long ago that it wasn't workable to paint all at once after I finished building it, so painting comes into the picture and and when needed before I proceed to the next step.

This shelf is 16cm wide and honestly it will be the largest I'll make. Any wider than that would be a major challenge. I think I'll make another 11cm wide shelf and list it in my shop in the near future.

So last night, I quickly made notes of measurements, so that there will be future measurement references.

Now, I'll have some time to make some Christmas items :))

New Miniature Cupcake Base Mold For 1/12 and 1/6 Scale

Hi everyone! There is a new miniature cupcake base mold now available in my shop! This mold is suitable for making both 1/12 and 1/6 Scale.

What's different with this mold is that it comes with 2 different cupcake base designs. See photo below.

One with the cupcake liner and one that comes with a cup. :)

It's hard to find molds that allows you to make 1/6 scale. So for those who are building bakery shop for your Blythe dolls, you don't want to miss this!

For detailed measurements, please see the listing description HERE.

Speaking of Blythe doll scale or the 1/6 scale, I'm currently working on a cake display shelf for my lovely customer. I'll release this and make it available for all of you Blythe Doll owners sometime later once I'm done with this one. But it will be released as a MADE TO ORDER listing.

The design will be similar to the one shown in the above picture, on the RIGHT. The one above is in 1/12 scale. Of course I'll take more photos once I am done with the 1/6 scale bakery shelf. :)

Have a wonderful week all!

Blythe Doll 1:6 Scale Cake Display Shelves

Back in 2013, I blogged about fulfilling a custom order for Blythe Doll. My customer wanted some cake display shelves for her Blythe Doll. You can read it here and here. Never knew it was 5 years ago until I searched for the old blog entries :)

Recently, my customer Melissa contacted me again, and provided me photos of her Blythe Cake Shop. I asked for her permission to post them, and so I can share these with you.

So impressed with her cake shop! So much detail and dedication here, don't you think? I love her cute Blythe Doll as well.

It makes me so happy to see my cake shelves being displayed in a beautiful cake shop. As you can see, the shelves are versatile and can be arranged in various ways. That gives the doll owner lots of options to play around with it.

Next, I'll build some basic kitchen cabinets for Blythe Doll. Oh boy, I'm nervous, as making 1:6 scale furniture is pretty daunting. But I think it should be OK. Melissa was also very sweet and understanding. I truly appreciate her for letting me take my time with it.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Blythe Doll Furniture - Cake Display Shelf - Part 2

I finally finished my second Blythe doll furniture! The second cake display shelf is a little smaller in width as requested by my customer.

After I finished it, I remembered to take photos and jot down measurements in my sketch book so that I will have a reference if I am asked to reproduce it again at a later stage. I do have my 1/12 scale dollhouse miniature cake shelf as a reference, but for such a big cake shelf for Blythe Dolls, I just don't have that much storage space at home to make another to store.

At this point, I am not sure how it will be positioned in the store or room box, but I did mentioned to my customer that it can be positioned as a L shape counter too if she desires. :)

You will notice that the space between the bottom tier shelf  and top tier shelf is deliberately made wider (more space in between). That is because my customer has measured her cakes and some of them came with cake stands and therefore are taller, so she wanted to ensure that there is enough space to place them in without feeling cramped.

Ruki was happy to be a model for this, as she was a curious cat wondering why on earth is this cake shelf so huge yet empty :D

Blythe Doll Furniture - Cake Display Shelf

This is my very first attempt to make a Blythe doll furniture - a cake display shelf !!

If you know, Blythe dolls are large - very large according to my standards. I saw them in a local shop way back then and they are maybe like 25cm?

I don't have a Blythe doll, so crafting something like this is a challenge to me.

Thankfully my customer is willing to provide me with all the measurements. I put the measurements into a simple design layout and made sure my customer understands what it means when you want different measurements for certain sections. It depends what kind of layout you want for you cake shelf.

I worked on the wood fervently during the chinese new year holidays. But I needed to get the plastic sheet from the craft store after it re-opens after the holidays. After searching all the branches, it was found that they ran out of stock entirely. :(

I went home and decided to see if I get lucky with what I have in stock. I still have 1 sheet left, but it means there is is NO room for mistakes....

Before I cut it, I had to measure it a few times to make sure it was all precisely measured.

I cannot tell you how much of a relief it was for me when this piece was completed perfectly. I still have another one shelf to go - which I have another plastic sheet available, but it's not so thick. It should work since it is a smaller shelf.

This probably doesn't give you an idea of its actual height, but it's a little over 15cm tall.

I will try to take another photo with my Lati so it gives you a perspective of the height :)
