Dollhouse Miniature Pink Macaron Tower

Hi everyone! It's been another long while since I updated. The lunar new year holidays came and went. Just a couple of days ago, I received this in the mail.

It's a copy of the Florist magazine - based in Switzerland. My miniature flowers were being featured in a flower magazine and I was thrilled beyond words.

I'm grateful for the feature :)

I am mostly working on custom orders these days, and I'm very thankful everyone is patient while waiting for their items to be completed.

It's been a while since I made a dollhouse miniature macaron tower and I was surprised I had enough energy to make 2!

I'm so pleased how they turned out. I'm still figuring out the whole photography situation. I took these photos at 3pm, where the sun was really bright. I thought I would have really bad ugly shadows, which would be the case at my old house. I'm very surprised these turned out OK. I'm not sure if it means 3pm is now my ideal timing to take photographs, but I'll try again next time.

The macaron tower in the background is a custom work for a client and is still a work in progress...I'll take more photos once I complete that!

The pink macaron towers are always very popular. While making these, I thought of making blue macaron towers, which I've never attempted. I wonder if they would be as popular.

And here's another picture of it on the 3cm cake stand. It makes it look really grand. I'll have to restock those 3cm cake stands again soon!

Mini Gingerbread House

The return of the mini gingerbread house...

Made this the other day. The cobblestone roof top is just something I couldn't resist making, thus I had to make another one. Just in time for Christmas this year.

I have another older design which I want to revisit. I'm slowly gaining some energy and strength after falling sick for most of November, hopefully I'll have some time to make another gingerbread house design this month.

I've a feeling I will STILL be making Christmas items even after Christmas is over... LOL
But I don't really have a deadline, so why not? :D

Dollhouse Miniature Christmas Snowflake Mont Blanc Desserts

During the past few weeks, I've been slowly working on some dollhouse miniature christmas snowflake mont blanc desserts which I'm happy to show you.

These are taken in another new spot in my new home, and I think this is my favorite spot for photography. It's roomy enough that I can place a table, and a chair to sit to photograph my miniatures. PLUS the sunlight on a good day is fantastic.

I was looking for some blue and white christmas desserts for inspiration but I don't find that many, at least not even one for mont blancs. So I created this from my own imagination. A simple white chocolate snowflake on top of a blue mont blanc dessert. I'm really digging the blue and white theme for now.

There are a couple more blue and white ideas that I want to make, some of which are remakes. Though they are ideas of previous years, but they are STILL fun to make.

I'm wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Great day for Photography and a Moving SALE!

Last Sunday, I had some time to take proper photos of my work. Immediately I thought of using my Dollhouse Miniature Buffet Kitchen Table to prop some simple stuff.

It helps greatly when the weather was cooperating! Everything is bright!

I think the dollhouse miniature teal cupcakes here are presented well on the table. Along with a bouquet of sweet flowers.

I'm pleased with the photographs. :)

Have I mentioned that besides my caregiving duties, I'm also tied up with packing, helping my mom to declutter, organize her stuff because...We are moving! Hopefully in 2 months time!

Currently, I've just engaged a renovation contractor to do up my place, so that will take a bit of time. It isn't a brand new place, so the wear and tear was very obvious, and renovations had to be done before we can move in.

You can imagine the amount of things I have to do...I'm trying my best to also allocate some time to pack and sort my stuff, and it's tough. To be honest, I haven't moved in more than 30 over years. I thought I will be sad, but I think I'm mostly too exhausted to feel that. Can anyone who is an "expert" in moving, share any tips? I don't know if "expert" is the right word even, but I guess anyone who has been moving quite a bit in their lifetime. I'd love to hear from you. Anything from dealing with the move emotionally, downsizing, decluttering, anything. My friend has given me some good pointers. He said, if I haven't used something in two years, most likely I won't be using it ever and I can toss/donate/give it away. That was a good one.

I also wanted to take this chance to organize a moving sale, so here it is!

Please use the discount code MOVING18 to enjoy 15% OFF your purchase when you buy miniature supplies from peiliminiatures.com

Items such as craft books, molds, clays are all considered as miniature supplies. Minimum purchase of USD$90 is required. Valid till 10 July 2018.

Miniature supplies can be found HERE. Craft books can be found HERE.

Happy Crafting everyone!

Dollhouse Miniature Teal Rose Cupcakes

I've made another set of these lovely dollhouse miniature teal rose cupcakes. What's different this time round is that I hand assembled the cake display for it.

It was made of a plate, and a bowl. I hand picked several parts, and put them together and turned it into a pedestal cake stand :)

So it's definitely a unique, one of a kind cake stand.

Cakes are glued to the cake stand, but the glass cover isn't.

On other news, I'm busy with moving. Well, renovating for now. Renovations hasn't started, but probably after a week's time :) I hope! So much to do, so much to pack! It does get a little overwhelming, as that's on top of my caregiving duties.

Do look out for a sale in my Etsy shop sometime mid June. My shop banner then will have all the details. The sale is only applicable for supplies, which means items such as molds, books, clays are all applicable for the sale. :) Don't miss it!

Dollhouse Miniature Rose Cupcakes

It's been a long while, and I made some dollhouse miniature rose cupcakes just a couple of days ago. It's been a while since I last made them, and I forgot how popular these rose cupcakes are.

These are sold :) THANK YOU!!! But I'm always making some more....so yes I'm in the midst of making another one. It's always slightly different! :)

I'll certainly post pictures of my new miniature cupcakes when they are done! Have a wonderful weekend all!

New molds!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful start to 2018.

I'm pleased to announce the new molds that has arrived in my shop.

All of these are duo side molds, but I personally like to make one side at a time. Especially for cream puffs, as you would need to include a cream in between the puffs.

Also, all of these molds can make 1/12 scale miniatures :)

Just made these belgian waffles the other day...

Wishing all a fabulous week!

Making Dollhouse Miniature Cupcakes Here

Making some dollhouse miniature cupcakes here…although my progress is very slow with the many other duties that I need to attend to. But I’m sure I will get them done, even if it takes 3-4 x the amount of time than I usually complete them.
I used this miniature cupcake mold to make the cupcake bases, and I must say it is by far, my favourite cupcake base mold. Reason being, it’s high enough, looks amazingly good, natural and the creases or folds are sharp and just perfect!
A bunch of them in my hands!
And if you noticed, some of the tops are painted already, and some are still unpainted.
The blue bases are calling out to me dearly.

Wishing everyone a happy, peaceful week!

Dollhouse Miniature Macaron Tower

I've just completed another slightly different dollhouse miniature macaron tower last week.

I'm pleased with this one, as I've made several minor changes. The changes are minor but hopefully they are noticeable.

The tower base is decorated slightly differently this time.

French macaron tower measures 4cm tall and 2.8cm at its widest.

Working on a larger bouquet right now....Hopefully I have something to show next time?

_____________

And in some other news, my mom had her first chemotherapy session today. So far it's pretty all right. Maybe it's too early to say?  I can only hope it stays this way - where she can still eat to keep her strength up. Keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't get bad side effects.
Having just been to the cancer center, I really have a new found admiration for those who go to treatments by themselves. It's not easy.
Personally, I'm slowly trying to find a balance between caregiving and working. It's been a challenge, but I also remind myself to be kind to myself. I'm sure I will find some sort of equilibrium in this challenging times. :)

Macaron Tower and a SALE

I recently completed another dollhouse miniature macaron tower. Macaron towers have always been a popular request. I am also very heartened to know that the ones I made have always been picked up by different owners. I love playing around with colors, so each one is always different!

Now that this one has been mailed to its new home, it's time for me to play with colors again.!

I love the bloom peony flower on top of it. :) It's almost like my signature on every tower.

Another view of my hand on it.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank each and everyone of you, be it spending time commenting on my blog or by collecting my work by purchasing them. I started selling on Etsy in 2008. 9 years now?! I can't even imagine, that next year will be a decade! What?! Time really flies. I had no idea until I counted it while writing this blog post.

I recently reached a new milestone in achieving 5000 sales. I am grateful truly. If you followed my facebook page, I announced a Discount Code for this special milestone celebration. Take 15% OFF when you purchase a minimum of SGD$55 from my shop here. Only till 20 Aug 2017. Please get the code from my shop directly. :)

There were a couple of people who had issues with the code. But not to worry if you encountered that. Just drop me a note, and I'll manually issue you a 15% refund. With every new tool feature, there may be some teething issues. I'm around, so just send me a note. :)

Wishing all a great weekend!

Dollhouse Miniature Naked Cake With Peonies

With the peonies theme in mind, I made this dollhouse miniature naked cake. In fact, I've completed 3 so far. I'm definitely making a fourth one.

Really liking the fresh green bulbs here :)

The mixer has also been sent to its new home, and I'll have the chance to make a new one.

I've recently been playing with darker shades of pink, which you will see in the next few posts.

The heat has been quite unbearable here, and I ended up with having a headache for the past 3 days. So I was not feeling my usual self. Hopefully the headache left me for good today.

I've been trying something new this week too, when it comes to fitness. I decided to change up my routine a bit by adding 2-3 days of strength training per week. I think that's important now that I'm in my fourties and I want to make sure I don't further lose muscles or end up with weak bones. The first day after I purely did strength training, I ended up with really sore muscles. Places that I never felt existed hurt. lol I guess it is good right? I can only do 2 reps right now. But I'll slowly work towards 3 reps. Today happens to be strength training day. Let's see if I still hurt after that!

I hope everyone is having a good week!

Dollhouse Miniature Macaron Tower with Peony

Sometime last week, I completed a custom request for a dollhouse miniature macaron tower. I was really honoured to work on the macaron tower for her. And I've mentioned many times here, when it comes to macaron towers, no two are ever the same. As such, I'm extremely grateful that she gave me the creative freedom to use colors and flowers to give life to each unique piece. My mind was filled with gratefulness as I worked on this piece. The best kind of work is when I can play with colors and flowers. What more can one ask for?

It certainly doesn't come to a surprise that I came up with this. The good thing was, my customer just gave me a broad direction - Laduree themed colors. As I've still been bitten by the peony flower fever, it found its way into this piece as well. Again, I am grateful that my custom liked it when I showed her.

"Do more of what makes you happy."

This sentence has been appearing in my mind many times this week. I probably have a new sentence each week. The sentence, or quote reflects my state of mind, or a lesson for that particular week. During this week, this particular sentence just appeared numerous times.

Absolutely true.

In my case, when I'm really happy, hopefully that happiness seeps into my work. And hopefully my work reflects that.

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be the last macaron tower I make. It's fun to see the pretty colors piling up. It makes me happy, and because it makes me happy, I need to do more of it.

One at a time....

(Looking at my to do list).

Happy mid week everyone!

Dollhouse Miniature Three Tier Hydrangea Cake

Hello everyone. My latest work for this week is a dollhouse miniature three tier hydrangea cake. Since I started practicing the new technique for making hydrangeas, I've been making them non-stop. I wanted to incorporate them into many different things. It is no surprise that I would end up putting some into miniature food :) I'm very sure I'm not done yet. I'm thinking of smaller cakes, and maybe even with ganache. But maybe with different color themes.

It is also of no surprise, that a hydrangea cake is most time consuming of all the cakes I've made, because for this particular concept, I wanted to line the edges with hydrangeas :)

This is a very soft, muted color tone. The cake buttercream is a very soft light pink. As for the hydrangeas, there are various soft colors of green, mauve, pinks.

There are tons of hydrangea cake inspiration in google images and honestly, a few too many that I want to try out eventually, one at a time :)

This is my first three tier cake of 2017, I can't even believe that myself! Actually I hope to revisit some of the earlier ones I've made, by incorporating new flowers into them. Here are the links to the other three tier cakes I've blogged in the past.

I hope you love my new work. :) Have a beautiful week everyone!

Back with some lace cake slices

Hi all! I'm back after a short vacation. I'm not sure why I had such fatigue after I was back. I think it is probably due to the humidity. So I've been resting a fair bit and trying to get back into the swing of things.

It's been a while since I made some cake slices. But I did wanted to show how nice intricate lace cake slices can be as well. New lace molds are available here.

These miniature cake slices are made with air dry clay. And I think there are still many people who fear using air dry clay. With air dry clay, you naturally get realistic cake texture without needing to "poke" or texture it with a needle or sharp tool. Just let them dry naturally and be patient. When it's dried, all you need to do is to cut them out.

I think air dry clay is good for those who are suffering from arthritis or weak joints on your wrists.

This once off cake slices set is also available here. I felt that the intricate lace on the top speaks volumes, and adding anything on the top would have covered its natural beauty. So I have left the top design shine on its own.

Wishing everyone a happy weekend! :)

Fake Whipped Cream Glossy Finish

Hi everyone! April went by quickly, and now it's already 5 months into the new year!
I've been busy here still, working on some assorted projects. I've had time to finally finish another new magnet design which I'll release soon. I'm so happy because it's been something I had always wanted to complete since my last release of the Strawberry Macaron Dessert Magnet which was getting popular! I was widely surprised, but equally delighted that it's gaining popularity.

If you don't know how it looks like, here it is:

This is a life size magnet by the way.

So while making my new raspberry macaron design, I experimented with the fake whipped cream in glossy finish

I've tried capturing a closer picture of the piped cream. Although it doesn't really show up as glossy, but it is.

I also wanted to talk about how to clean the piping tool once you've used this. Since this particular cream is made of silicone, I don't recommend washing. It's just too much hassle and creates a mess.

Simply wait out for an hour, and use tweezers to pull out the cream. Those parts which are dried will be released from the piping tool, and it doesn't stick onto the tool. Not the entire cream will be pulled off, so you need to wait for another hour or so for the next part of the cream to be dried. Repeat  the process, and you'll get a nice clean piping tool again. No stains, all cleaned!

I hope you like this little tip! It's easy and no hassle. :)

Dollhouse Miniature Cake Pastry Cupcake Toppings Decoration

I found these intricate findings recently and when I saw them, I knew their size is just perfect to be used as dollhouse miniature cake pastry, or cupcake toppings decoration!

Immediately, I had an idea to do a spring theme ispahan macaron!

The butterfly finding fitted this dollhouse miniature ispahan macaron perfectly. :) I will have to find some time after my custom order to make some other pastries using other patterns.

I have listed these intricate findings in my etsy shop here.

There are several designs. All of them are definitely suitable for 1/12 or 1/24 scale miniatures.
