Pink Bunny Macaron Necklace

So, I did make it in time to post a last entry for 2014!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas celebration. I had a quiet one spent with family at home and took the opportunity to get some nap and play around with clay.

I ventured into making animal shape macarons and the first one I've experimented successfully is the pink bunny macaron necklace!

I had much time drawing its face. :)

Here's another shot.

I hope you like this! I'm also making another animal shape macaron and once it's done, I'll show it.

You can get the pink bunny macaron necklace here now.

I hope all of you will have a wonderful new year celebration and see you in 2015! Thank you so much for staying and reading my blog.

Tall Sandwich Necklace

I've been really busy the past month up till now, rushing out Christmas orders and re-stocking my shop - which is why I've really haven't had time to blog or even create new items.

Yesterday, I finally had some time to play with new ideas! I've always been wanting to try my hand making a sandwich necklace, and I had fun "stacking" things up! :)

The tall sandwich jewelry has many layers of lettuce, cheese, tomatoes and ham!

This would be great for everyday wear. Because I had so much time creating this, I'm going to make a couple more.

Available at my Etsy shop here now!

I'm so happy that a few of my miniatures made it to buzzfeed.com
Featured items were the pastel macarons glass dome necklace, dollhouse miniature assorted breads and hamentaschen earrings!

See the post here

I am having a fabulous November. It is always such a special month for me. The month started a little blue as I was worried about my health, but I have since found out I am OK and have recovered from the nasty flu.
I'm feeling very humbled and grateful for the support and love received as a result from the feature, it makes me want to work harder! It's also my birthday month and I accomplished a little personal project (not related to miniatures) that I've been wanting to do for months, and I felt truly joyous. All in all, it has been a fabulous month.

To end off November, I'm having a 10% discount in my Etsy shop. Please use the discount code THANKU14 when you check out to enjoy the discount. Discount expires on 1 Dec 2014.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

English Tea Time - Student's Work

How often do I get to see three English tea time trolleys all placed together? In fact this is the first time! But I love how pretty it looks when all 3 are placed together. Therefore I had to take a photograph to capture this precious moment.

My tea cart is in the background (with the green ribbon on the profiteroles tart), and the ones in the front are my students' work. Joan and Nary completed it, and I hope they are happy with their project.

Most people often under-estimate the amount of time it takes to complete a project like this.
It took 9 hours for a beginner to complete this project. Of course, it's impossible to do it all in 1 day, therefore it is broken up into 3 days.

Here's a close up.

More details on the English Tea Time workshop, please see here.

Egg and Butter Toast Earrings

I've been quiet since I got back. I seldom fall sick, but somehow caught a nasty cold which took me a rather long time to shake it off. But I'm much better now and am glad to be somewhat back to my usual self. I've also been working on some custom orders. I have some ideas for christmas, and hopefully I will be able to crank some out in time!

I've recently made another toast earrings variety to my collection. This time round, I added an egg to the toast ;)

I am thinking of adding another variety, perhaps with ham?

Available now in my shop here!

Dollhouse Miniature Flowers- Mixed Pastel Flowers Bouquet

I made a new mixed pastel flowers bouquet recently. It is in 1/12 dollhouse miniature scale.
I love the pastel colors! There are 5 different types of flower types in this bouquet, so you will have visual feast!

My friend, Jacqueline has plans to make this into a sweet charm for her doll, so I'll be making another one for her.

On another news, I will be away on vacation starting 15 Oct, and will be back 23 Oct. All orders will be processed when I am back on 24 Oct. Thank you so much for your patience and support! :)

Student's Macaron Tower

My student, Vanessa built her first dollhouse miniature macaron tower over the weekend.

Please do not underestimate the amount of time that goes into this little miniature macaron tower...it actually does take a significant amount of time to build it. It probably took close to 4 hours, no kidding!

But I'm loving the colors and so does she :) I'm glad she loved the end result.

In case you were wondering which craft workshop we were working on, it's "Let's Bake Macarons"

Back to creating

I haven't been really sitting down and just letting my creativity flow lately, so I was glad to find some quiet moments to just create!

This miniature bird cage was bought from one of my travels last year, and I have always wanted to do something with it. Since christmas is just a few months away, I wanted to try create something with a christmas theme in mind with it.

I enjoyed just sitting down and painting over the bird cage. It was great fun and therapeutic as well. I can't wait to see the whole scene coming to life.

My Second Rainboots Flower Arrangement

Remember my first rainboots flower arrangement here. It was sold a little while ago to France, and I finally had some time to make a second piece. This time round, I changed the flower arrangement a little by introducing another colour. But the overall colour theme is still soft and dreamy....

I hope you love this one as well.

I'll have to prepare for my Sunday workshop! Have a great weekend all!

Faux Macarons- Vanilla

I've been working quietly on these faux vanilla macarons. 20 of them actually. It was the first time I was commissioned by a local company for these. I always ask for 3 weeks time line for a project like this. I can never do it fast enough. Furthermore, it takes time for the shells to dry, and I texture all of them individually. I'm careful about not injuring my wrists, so that's why I would never try to complete them in a hurry.

I'm happy the project is completed and I can now proceed to other work that has been put aside for a little while. I hope to complete that new PDF tutorial which I have been working on forever. I am in the final photography stages for that. Then I will be concentrating on editing and writing.

Wishing you all a happy weekend!

White Rose Hair Bobby Pin and Freely Clay

It's been a while since my last post. I am still around, but just been kept busy with work and some orders :)

I'm happy to be asked by my customer to create a special hair pin bobby for her, that goes along with the dark yellow gerbera daisy profiteroles ring here.

After some discussion, we decided to do a white rose, and 2 gerbera daisies. I also added some pearls to it.

Oh, and this time round, I took the chance to use a new resin clay to make the flowers. It's called Freely Clay. You can purchase it at my etsy shop here.

I'm really liking the texture. It's softer than Grace, so I can really flex and sculpt the petals. You can also use it to make fruits. It is slightly translucent. When dried, it is slightly flexible as well. Beautiful texture.

Singapore Garden Festival 2014

Having visited the Singapore Garden Festival Show for the first time in 2013, I was naturally looking forward to visit this year's show. This year, the show was held at Gardens By The Bay.

I purposely picked a weekday to visit as I thought there would be less people, and I would have time to admire the exhibit pieces, but I was wrong. I don't remember having such a crowd last year when it was held at Suntec. There were just too many people, even on a weekday. Naturally I found it really hard to enjoy the exhibit as I felt that I was being pushed by the crowd to keep moving forward. My lack of photos this year pretty much says it all.

I still tried to look out for pieces that I love and am inspired by.

Here are some Eco-friendly home concepts.

I love this unique key holder!

Try growing some home-grown vegetables using egg shells

Wall decorations featuring succulent plants

Kitchen counter top decorated with assorted plants

More home grown vegetables/herbs

I'm actually quite fascinated with wall shrubs/plants like this.

Unique tissue box holder

Interesting study board supposedly for the study room

Next, I went to look at the flower arrangement displays. For some reason I really like this concept.

And I must say I love the miniature garden scenes. They are in 1:12 scale. I wish I had more time to stand and take photos, but it is extremely difficult when the crowd is pushing you along. I was able to take 2 photos of the Harry Potter Garden though.

It's a pity I did not take much time to enjoy the balcony scenes, as this year, they were being placed outside under the hot sun. Most people passed by quickly as they were looking to find a cool place to stay away from the heat.

I hope they will find a different location for the next show (2016). I don't mind Suntec City ;)

Hopefully you all enjoy the photos!

Profiteroles Ring - New Color

This week, I received a special request from a customer who wanted a profiteroles ring made in a different color. I'm happy to work on the colors she has requested, and here are a few photos.

I actually have a few ideas incorporating other kinds of flowers with this ring, so I'll put it on my to-do list and work on it soon :)

Dark yellow gerbera daisies with a white rose

Have a wonderful weekend all!

Pastel Macarons Glass Dome Necklace - Macaron Jewelry

I recently experimented with glass domes, and here, I have made a pastel macarons glass dome necklace.
All the macarons were carefully handmade, colours were specially selected and picked - so the entire look is dreamy and sweet.

Glass dome diameter is approximately 3cm at its widest. Height of the glass dome is also 3cm.

Length of necklace is approximately 67cm (26 inches).

Hope you love it!

Acts of Random Kindness with Art

Last week, my friend made my day by sharing a photo with me. I was happy to see the smile on the girl's face wearing a macaron necklace that I've made.

I wanted to share it, but I am cognizant that it is best to get the permission of the photographer and the little girl. I am happy to be able to share this.

She is 11 years old and lives in Vietnam. A friend of my friend came to know her and she doesn't have a lot in life, but we just wanted to make her life a little bit happier. I'm just happy that I am able to spread a bit of happiness with my creations. This is what I want to continue doing.

Have a wonderful week all!

Dollhouse Yellow Roses Flower Arrangement

This week, I revisited the "yellow" colour when I made a new bouquet of dollhouse miniature roses. Previously I would have left yellow alone when I make the petals, but this time round, I got a little adventurous and added some more colour on top of the yellow petals. I'm loving it!

You'll see that it looks way more realistic in real life, as there's also some light green, but the photograph doesn't show the green so well. But you'll see it in real life.

I finished compiling photographs for two overseas magazine features last week, and I'll share when they are published! So happy and excited!

Also, I am working on my next PDF tutorial. It's coming along slowly. Most of the time, it's not possible to photograph everything in one sitting, and it has to be broken up into days. The items have to be dried before proceeding onto the next step. So it can be rather time consuming. But I hope to get it done soon, so look out for it.

Wishing you all a great weekend!

Featured on GoodHousekeeping.com

It's been a busy week here, filled with classes and work.

On top of it, I was delighted when I realized there were traffic coming in from Goodhousekeeping.com
I checked and realized my miniatures were featured on a short writeup over there.
You can see it here.

And I've been slowly adding to the colors to the ice cream earrings I made a while ago.

So now, I've chocolate, vanilla and strawberry colours :)

I'm going to have some more colours coming up soon!

Dollhouse Miniature Rain Boots Flower Arrangement

So, it seems the dollhouse miniature flowers that I recently experimented looked more like English Roses than Peonies to me.

The idea of creating beautiful flora arrangements featuring rain boots is not a new concept. I just love how cute the entire look is. I challenged myself to create this soft peach theme using the newly experimented "busy looking" english roses.

I hope this brings you a minute or two of serenity while looking at it.

It's already Wednesday here, so here's wishing you a happy one!

New Dollhouse Miniature Peonies

So this week, I spent a little time making a new batch of dollhouse miniature peonies. I'm so determined to make them look as tight as possible, just like the real thing.

Many a time, in miniature making, it's about learning, unlearning, re-learning and refining techniques. That was what pretty much I was thinking while making this batch. :)

I hope you love this picture, and I hope to finish a bouquet soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dollhouse Herb Wooden Vintage Crates

I had so much fun making mini things like this. I saw some herb theme inspired decor in real life size and wanted to make some in dollhouse miniature size. I especially love the wordings on them, which is lovely and uplifting! I hope these positive wordings will find a place in your doll house, and the same uplifting energy can be channeled into there as well.

For a change, I decided to use a new color on these crates. I think they are great for summer.

I love the fact there are so many ways to use and style them. I have another vase, so I might offer another set with those accessories in it soon.

These vintage style herb crates offer a special bit of rustic charm to your dollhouse decor.

I hope they bring a smile to your face!

Happy mid-week all!
